Driving along the Alcantara river which wets one of the most important fertile valley, can be enjoyed an amazing country side view and over the highest active volcano in Europe. This valley is also called the red wine rout... we drive trough several vineyards and olive cultivations. We will reach the ancient town of Randazzo, known as the "black town" or "the town of the 100 churches". Lava stones were used to build road and the most important monuments and palaces. The town is a mixer of cultures and languages since it was colonized from ancient time and three were the languages spoken trough the centuries: Greek, Latin and Lombard. Upon our arrival we will meet a local Guide Who will surprise you showing the wonderful architectures of the Basilica of Santa Maria, church of San Nicola… including an exclusive private visit of his medieval house. In the Randazzo area, with a 10 minutes walk trough the countryside, we will visit the farm of a local shepherd, for a tasting of his own local products, as many type of cheeses, salami, olive , wine… after this break enough for your light lunch (included in the price) we continue our journey with the visit of one of the most charming and unspoiled Sicilian village: Castiglione di Sicilia. We will take a walk to an amazing spot to enjoy a breathtaking view over the Alcantara valley. On the way back a stop at the Alcantara gorges is a must to enjoy the view of the lava canyon, created by an ancient lava eruption.
